Located in a cluster of low hills is the town of Outjo, an important cattle-ranching centre. The history of the town
and surroundings is depicted in the Outjo Museum, where the focus is on gemstones and wildlife. The museum is housed in Franke House, built in 1899 for the German commanding officer
Hauptmann Franke and one of the first residences in the town. It is affiliated to Africom, the African branch of the International Museums Board established in 1999, and belongs to
MAN, the Museum Association of Namibia. |
